12/05/2006 - Blanchardstown Centre becomes 'Child Safe Zone'

On Father’s Day, Sunday 18th June, Blanchardstown Centre will launch Child Safe…a simple, safety system to help re-unite a lost child with their family.

Anyone who has lost a child knows that dreaded moment when they turn round and their child is out of sight. Child Safe aims to re-unite a lost child with their family more quickly by giving parents a direct link to the Centre’s CCTV Security Control Room, who will immediately help in the search for the lost child. Bright window stickers and posters in the Centre indicate the emergency number for parents to ring and be put in touch directly with Centre Security.

Parents can also pick up a free Child Safe wrist band from the Centre’s Information Desk. A mobile number on a wristband is the simplest and quickest way to reunite a child with a parent or guardian.

“We believe that all our shoppers will really benefit from this scheme which will compliment our existing child safety procedures,” said Operations Manager, Pat Fitzgerald. “We attract thousands of shoppers every week and that means that at busy times small children can easily get distracted and separated from their parents. Child Safe Zones mean we can help bring people back together quickly, providing an even more pleasant and relaxed shopping experience.”

Families should look out for the Child Safe Zone’s smiley orange balloon stickers on shop windows throughout The Blanchardstown Centre, which carry the Centre’s help line number. Any parent losing sight of their child, or any shopper finding a lost child, can call the number on the sticker to speak directly to the Customer Care Team.

Families are also encouraged to register with FamilySafePlus+ - a family registration service that works for a family wherever they travel. Store important information that could help a child, or other family member, lost or injured anywhere in the world. A unique family ID can unlock this information via a 24 hour help centre. Registration is easy - just pick up a leaflet from the Blanchardstown Centre Information Desk or online at www.childsafezones.co.uk.
